‘Future Ruins’ explores the complexities of gentrification or redevelopment in London’s Elephant and Castle. It captures not only the physical restructuring of spaces but also the profound social, cultural impacts that accompany these changes. Utilising the concept of ‘future ruins’, it reflects on past memories and envisions the future through 3D-rendered images, showing how today’s redevelopment will eventually become tomorrow’s ruins.

As an outsider, this project adopts a relatively objective perspective on the area, while challenging the simplistic narrative of urban development. By employing a psycho-geographical methodology, Future Ruins presents various visual expressions, including photo collages, to encapsulate these dynamics.
