This project is a conceptual design book that explores the growing homogenization of global cities in the age of globalization and modernization. As urban landscapes increasingly resemble one another, cities risk losing their unique identities.
The book is divided into two contrasting parts: Anonymous Cities - Featuring 18 cities from around the world, this section presents cityscapes stripped of all textual identifiers. Viewers are invited to guess the locations, prompting reflection on how visual similarities blur the distinctiveness of each place. Wandering Texts - In contrast, this section showcases only the textual elements—signs, advertisements, and public messages—extracted from urban environments. Devoid of visual context, these fragments become dislocated, making it difficult to trace them back to their origins.
Together, these two perspectives challenge our perception of place and identity, encouraging a deeper awareness of how cities are shaped, and reshaped, by global cultural and visual trends.
